Markdown Extra and Markdown Extra with Smartypants do not work in 2.1.1 — these text formatters simply load the normal Markdown class. The formatters need to instantiate an instance of MarkdownExtra_Parser and not Markdown_Parser.

Have you heard anything yet? I guess this would be addressed in 2.2. It’s a little issue, but would be of great help to me.
