Hello folks.

I am running 2.2.5 for a particular project of mine and I am interested to know if there is any way of adding automation functionality into Symphony. Ideally I am looking into delete entries after a certain amount of time has passed, as well as potentially send events to trigger email sends after periods of time.

It may be too much to ask, but has anybody else tried this?

I just recently built a CRON script to delete out members who had registered for my site and never activated their accounts after a few weeks. I can't say I did it in a "Symphony-esque" way, I just wrote a PHP script that looks through the database and deletes entries.

I'd be curious if there is a better way I should have done as well.

MySQL has its Event Scheduler which can be used to deal with old entries, not that I have done this myself. It is even possible for MySQL to trigger the sending of emails, but I'm getting out of my depth here.

Hi both. Check out this thread for an alternative and more Symphony-esque method...
