The dropdown menu on the Comments Admin interface would seem to make it possible to "authorise" or not certain commentors, i.e. to block troublemakers/spambots. Is this indeed the intention?

The tests I've run on this option have no effect on my ability to save or publish comments. All my comments are published regardless of the setting I apply via the dropdown menu.

"Authorise" is just a way to flag it as a comment made by an authorised person. In the XSLT, the system takes that logic and adds a CSS class to the comment so it can be displayed differently.

For example, I am the author of an article. So my comments on that article are all highlighted in blue.

For flagging of spams, you'll need extensions like this.

Thanks for the clarification, Allen.
