Update a field from a section entry from the front-end

Yep, it's wrong. :-) You can send a single field (and the entry ID, of course) in order to update only this field.

Is there a way to update only a field of a section entry from the front-end? I know that to update an entry you need to submit all the fields to an event. Correct me please if I'm wrong. Could I get around this limitation?
