Unfortunately upgrading from 2.1.1 will have to be done incrementally. What extensions do you have installed? Please let us know what extensions you have installed, that way we can better provide you an idea of how to upgrade from 2.1.1.

Most likely, you will need to upgrade from 2.1.1 to 2.2.5 then to 2.3.6 then to the latest version of Symphony which currently is 2.6.1 (as of this post).

@julian - Also, what version of PHP are you running? If it's PHP 5.4 or higher, and you are running an earlier version than 2.3.6...

Look for this code...

if (PHP_VERSION_ID >= 50300){
    error_reporting(E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_DEPRECATED & ~E_STRICT);
}

And add ~E_STRICT if it is not there already.
