I think that a working localisation system is becoming even more necessary day by day.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ll make sure we review this thread during our next team meeting.

I just had a look at the members list of this site. The top ten contains the following countries:

  1. United States
  2. United Kingdom
  3. Germany
  4. Canada
  5. Australia
  6. Netherlands
  7. Italy
  8. France (has been added in the meantime)
  9. Russian Federation
  10. India

We currently have translation files for all countries except for French and Indian. Is there anybody who likes to start working on these translations?

Italy

Just to clarify: Italian localisation is on its way. The translation is complete and 2.0.7-ready, but we’d like to test it more intensively before releasing it publicly. ;)

@Kaiuwe: I separated the translations of the core extension from the Symphony core ones. You’ll find a list of the repositories at http://getsymphony.com/discuss/thread/29602/4/#position-69.

Thanks for your help!
Nils

Over the last weeks a lot of localisation related code has been pushed to GitHub and has been added to the Symphony integration branch. These are the new features of Symphony 2.0.7:

  • Symphony now adds a global language selection in the preferences and a custom selection in the author profiles if more than one language file is available.
  • All JavaScript related strings are no translated using the related core function.

Please test these new features available at http://github.com/symphony/symphony-2/tree/integration.
