A new extension, “Documenter” is now available for download. Comments and feedback can be left here but if you discover any issues, please post it on the issue tracker.

Oooh nice :) helpfull indeed! doesn’t seem to save entry on a 2.0.6 install.

Officially, the extension requires 2.0.7. But this is only because delegate page names have changed.

EDIT Nope, I was wrong. the error has to do with some core changes in Symphony’s code. I’ll look into making this compatible with versions < 2.0.7 but won’t promise anything ;)

Added a demo video to the extension page.

Craig, this is wonderful!

Looks very cool, indeed!

Running To Do List

  1. Make button text configurable
  2. Explore full multilingual support
  3. Create dependent extension that provides default documentation pack
  4. Explore backwards compatibility with versions < 2.0.7

Feel free to add to the list ;)

I like this idea. Thanks Craig.

This is a damn nice idea Craig! Good work.

Wow, that looks very slick!

I hope the 2.0.6. release is possible, that woudl mean I don’t have to write a entire help document for a site I’m wrapping up ;).

Craig, this will be great to allow me to include the Markdown syntax for my friend who has difficulty remembering. Nice work!

I’m going to be using it for the exact same thing until we finally see a proper WYSIWYG editor for Symphony.

Great extension!

One thing I’d like to note is if you have a long set of directions that go beyond the actual height of the window it gets cut off.

You might want to wrap the text in a scrollable DIV or something to that effect.

Documenter updated to version 0.9.1 beta on 7th of January 2010

Now compatible with earlier versions of Symphony. Tested on 2.0.5 and 2.0.6.

Yes, I remember seeing that now. Will look into a fix.

On Symphony 2.0.6 Documenter crashes Preferences pane with following error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function fetchCol() on a non-object in /symphony/lib/toolkit/class.extensionmanager.php on line 175

Documenter updated to version 0.9.2 beta on 7th of January 2010

As of 0.9.2 the button text is now configurable in Preferences.

Guh. My bad. Same oversight as before. Try now?

It’s working! Thanks!

Sweet. Let me know if you run into any other problems.

Thanks czheng!
