Oh I see, thanks bauhouse. I think the most convenient thing is to just dump the database then. I'll look into that :)

I am afraid I'm back again. I feel like I'm spamming this forum with my issues, but life isn't easy for me apparently...

So, I finally got everything I wanted working, but I got this last one issue: whenever I try to add a member, for some reason no mail is being sent. To be sure this has worked just for the first member, then it stopped working. I have managed to get the SMTP Email Library extension working and there are no errors in the logs.

Two things seem to happen:

  • Whether I choose Sendmail or SMTP (configured to use Gmail) as my mail gateway, Symphony always tries to connect to my local mail server.

  • When Symphony connects to my local mail server, it resets the current session just after sending the EHLO.

This is what I can see in the mail log with log level 4:

Apr 1 09:37:37 ct-1617 postfix/smtpd[26111]: disconnect from localhost.localdomain[127.0.0.1]

I have no idea whatsoever as to why it sends the RSET without even trying to send the mail and why it ignores my SMTP settings (it should try to connect to Gmail rather than my local mail server when I tell it so).

I'm not sure it will help you as I don't fully understand your problem but you might want to try this.

Thanks for your feedback, however I am sure that my local SMTP server is configured correctly (I have tested it). The problem is that Symphony connects to my MTA (Postfix in my case) but it never sends mail, it connects and then disconnects right away.

The other problem is that even when I specify a remote SMTP server, Symphony still keeps connecting to my local SMTP server.

Any plans to add Facebook and Twitter login/account creation? Seems to be the best route to encourage user registration.

Hi Pat, you may want to inquire in the new Members extension beta thread (it's currently in beta).

For the record, this particular members extension is not actively developed.

The official members extension thread can be found here: http://getsymphony.com/discuss/thread/70378/
