@Nils.. that's like effort :)

Is anyone running an automated/timed XML-Import in Symphony 2.6.3? The Cron extension seems to be broken. How would we go about this in 2015 or even 2016? :)

Here’s an extract from a discusion with @brendo from gitter for archival’s sake:

  • correct
  • Is there any reason you can’t use a normal cron and just curl the XML importer URL?

  • Still investigating. I don’t have access to the actual host this site will be on yet.

  • ah fair enough
  • well that’s an optional too
  • each importer has a unique URL that you can hit to execute
  • Usually we create a ‘cron author’, and then append their access token to the URL to auto log them in

  • So I’m trying a few things. Bur CURLing sounds like the most simple way. I have only just grasped the idea :·)
  • Ahhhhh! Thats what the remote-thingy is for! I always wondered m(
  • And: very very whitty!
  • This way curl can even run from any server. Brilliant!
