was just wondering if anyone had implemented a hit counter field for an item - a field that is incremented everytime a page (with the item on) is displayed

I was thinking that I could make an event to save an increased number (incremented in xlst) however I’d need to submit the form everytime.

I don’t mind getting my hands dirty in php with a custom event but was just wondering if anyone had any pointers before I do?
