Export Ensemble on Dreamhost?

When I try to create an ensemble in Symphony 2.1, I get this message:

 Warning: It appears you do not have the "ZipArchive" class available. Ensure that PHP was compiled with --enable-zip

It appears that Dreamhost's default PHP 5 install does not have Zip enabled and you have to install your own local copy of PHP and the PECL Zip extension.

Has anyone gotten this to work on Dreamhost? I'm a little hesitant to set up my own copy of PHP. I'm hoping there is an easier way. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a little ensemble I'd like to contribute, but since my hosting options are Dreamhost and MAMP, I can't create ensembles. :-(
