A new extension, "Preview Textarea" is now available for download. Comments and feedback can be left here but if you discover any issues, please post it on the issue tracker.

I've tested this with the default textarea and Rowan's replacement text box field. Let me know if it works or doesn't work with other textareas.

nice! i was going to create an html panel within a publish tab to get this functionality in my next project, but it would've required the user saving the entry before being allowed to preview it.

I was researching making a markdown textarea that displayed the content as HTML, a little like some of the wysiwyg editors out there, but this saves me the job!

Great extension! However I found a small glitch (and posted it on Github). :-)
