I've noticed that images quality is not the best.

I find a new library, maybe it could be a good option in future. It is called: smush

FYI, you can adjust the image quality in manifest/config.php, line #17:

 $settings['image']['quality'] = '90';

Yes, I know... but the result is not so good (expecially with resizing mode - more you resize, the worse the outcome).
