Policy statements

Anti-virus logs shall be retained for at least one year, with three months’ data being available at short notice (under three hours for retrieval).

Anti-virus logs shall be stored on the central log server for the CDE.

Anti-virus software shall generate logs.

All anti-virus software shall be kept up to date as follows:

  • The software itself shall be up to date.
  • Any pattern files (definitions) used to identify malware shall be current.
  • The master installation of the software shall enforce regular updates- at least every day.
  • The master installation of the software shall enforce periodic scans- at least every day, after the update.

Anti-virus software shall be deployed on all systems which are capable of being affected by malicious software. This software shall protect against all known types of malicious software; it shall remove such software where it is found.

In order to limit the risk to Company's systems from malicious software (including viruses, Trojans, worms and so forth), Company requires that all systems in the CDE be protected in a consistent fashion by the installation and use of anti-malware solutions.
