Is it possible to trigger events based on the time not request? Events can be trigger on page load or POST request, but what about things like “Categorize this as ‘old’ 3 days from now” or “Email user 5 days after last login”?

You will need a page specifically for this, and a cron task to fire it.

You can protect your page using the admin page type, and supply a token when loading it with cron.
