Its about the visibility of entries for authors and regular page visitors.

I have a XML Select-Box for entry-visibility with these values:

• public
• authors
• none

For regular users the datasource should filter "public" only. For Authors the datasource should filter "public" and "authors".

I can customize the datasource, but I search an out-of-the-box-way, which I have not found yet :(

Any ideas?

I think you'd need to utilise the Author Roles extension, however unfortunately I'm not sure how stable it is with the current release. There was an issue with it last time I attempted to use it, but it may have been for something specific (restricting backend areas if I remember correctly) - worth giving it a go.

I'm pretty sure this exposes extra parameters for you to work with which you could filter by.

Out-of-the box you could certainly do what you want to do, even just using URL parameters, but that wouldn't be 'secure' (if that's a requirement).
