The hidden page type had to do with the default workspace's navigation datasource. The navigation datasource would show all of the "pages" and if you tagged as specific page as hidden, it would be hidden from your navigation datasource and would not output on the site.

No, the admin page type was for admin needs (such as draft management).

The hidden type just hides the page from navigation. It will nevertheless be "online".
