It used to work. I upgraded from Symphony 2.3.6 to 2.6.1 and now 404 does not work anymore. I can try any URL such as http://mysite.com/nonsense/ and it returns HTTP 200. My .htaccess file is unchanged.

Any ideas?

If anyone else encounters this issue - I fixed it. Boils down to a parameter that was set on my index page for some reason, that did not produce issues on 2.3.6 but after the upgrade, the system saw the invalid URL as a parameter (correctly so) and did not produce an error. Removing the parameter (as it was unused) returned the site to proper working condition.
