I always felt that Alt tags were an integral part of image information that was not included in past Symphony releases. Is this something that is going to be integrated?

There's been considerable debate over this in the past and the current implementation is the result. I agree with the current implementation because alt tag info is not the only meta data that could be associated with an image/file. The default ensemble, Spectrum, demonstrates how to associate meta data with images via a section.
