To ty in with automatic userlanguage displaying I would like to use the google translate-api to magically create translated content if no human translation is available.
One could even imagine that with these machine translated (and cached) texts the visitor is asked to help correct the transaltion by downloading the complete entry as a markdown file (with fields as titles) editing it and then reuploading it, so it can be reviewed, and reimported into symphony (titles to fields again with xml import event from bauhause)

On drupal there is an i can localize module for translation workflow that hooks into the global internationalisatio module. See video
Entries that need translation are sent to their paid service, translated, and posted back to the site for review as xml-rpc.

Seems they use a client desktop app. But a sympony variant could use google documents, are dektop collaborative client like subethaedit
