transferring a section from one install to another

was wondering if there is a proven way of taking a section I have in 2.0.4 and populating it correctly in a clean 2.0.6 install
There is a proven way, but it isn’t an easy way. That is to rebuild your section structure in your 2.0.6 build and write a script to migrate the contents. Migration can be done in several ways:
- pure XML/XSLT posting to an Event
- or PHP posting to an Event

Is there a safe way to transfer a complete section I have created, and install it in a fresh install of 2.0.6?
I have been using 2.0.4 and have had issues when upgrading, so was wondering if there is a proven way of taking a section I have in 2.0.4 and populating it correctly in a clean 2.0.6 install.
