I have an old site running symphony v1.7 still and i want to install the latest symphony build (v2.0.7). I downloaded the latest zip, created a new folder and uploaded the latest build into directory (/v2/). However, when i go to the install.php file, i get this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/site/site.com/v2/install.php on line 68

I temporarily renamed the original .htaccess file from the root directory but that didn’t seem to anything.

thoughts?

I don’t think you can upgrade 1.7 sites to Symphony 2.

i’m not upgrading, i’m doing a fresh install in a subdirectory and get this issue

you’ve got the right version of PHP, etc?

@czheng - ha, the simplest solution! it’s running on 4.4.9 or something. getting them to upgrade that version soon now.

thanks!

Being simple-minded I’m especially adept at finding the simplest solution ;)
