I know section links have a role in the solution to this problem, but I'm not sure how...

I am creating 'feature boxes' for a homepage which look up 'featured items' that have been assigend to them and display lead-in content with a link to the content item page. I have a Feature Box section , a Featured Item section , and a Content Item section.

For now, I can swing this without section links because the Content Item field just needs to look in one content section. However, in the future I know I'll want to be able to create featured item entries from multiple content item sections. How exactly do I use section links to accomplish this?

Do I create a section link field in each content item section that links to featured Items?

Ok, I think I got it:

-Section Link in Featured Items linking to each content section I want to be able to add -Select Box in Content Box section selecting from Featured Items -Select Box in Content Box section selecting the page where the box exists.
