Hi guys,

I know this is a ocurring problem…. But I can’t Login to the admin area after installation…

If I Use the correct credentials… the page is “refreshed”. If I use the wrong credentials It gives a incorrect combination error.

So I assume that the check against the DB is being Done.

I have checked Mod_rewrite and it seems to be working.

I have checked XSL

XSL enabled libxslt Version 1.1.24 libxslt compiled against libxml Version 2.6.32 EXSLT enabled libexslt Version 1.1.24

I’m trying to install it not in localhost or 127.0.0.1…

Any thoughts on this???

Just Some more info..

Tried to install again. No erros IN db process or in Log….

Notice that the user in the database is of type “developer”. Notice that i’m not installing the cms locally.

Thanks in advance

May be a problem with sessions. Do you have cookies enabled?

Yes…

Tried with every single browser … FIREFOX, IE8, IE7,OPERA, Chrome and Safari.

PHP session:

session

Session Support enabled

Registered save handlers files user sqlite

Registered serializer handlers php php_binary wddx

Just noticed now guys that i created this post in the wrong section… Sorry

Can one of the mods move it?

Any thoughts on this… as i can´t use symphony :(

one more morning without getting what is going on :(

Tried

checking the .htaccess and add the options to follow symlinks. Rewrite rules from ./index.php….. to index.php…….

Activated php log, to search for errors… and no errors.

Kill all processes and restart server…

Please guys.. any help? It would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Can you post the URL and login data here (or your email, so I can ask there)? :-)

Thanks Phoque….

Here you go…

mail me at me@pedrolemos.info or join me on symphony in IRC.freenode.net

First of all would like to say thank you to phoque, he was a very much appreciated help and provided me with some insight on this.

Phoque mentioned me that there is a log file that shows the errors in symphony (/manifest/log/main).

After looking into this file i noticed that the right permissions were not set to my php temp folder on this domain. After solving that we were hoping for a fly but no joy :(

I got another error in the log file but no clue now :( Log attached

Without looking at this in more detail, it seems your server don’t allow creation of sessions. Have you spoken to your host about this?

I’m my own Host :D And yes it allows sessions, its the first time i encounter such a problem with sessions. Sessions are being created in the temp dir but with a 0 byte size.

Actual error in LOG FILE:

2010/01/27 09:55:23 > WARNING: 2 - Unknown: Unknown session.serialize_handler. Failed to encode session object. in file Unknown

just mail in the email above and i’ll give you the login data.

Regards

GOT IT….

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

It was after all a php.ini settings.

It looks like that for symphony to work you need :

session.serialize_handler = php

Otherwise it will give you the error above. What shouldn’t :(

It looks to me that this could be related with this bug :

http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=45406

Maybe one of the developers may give it a look??

Thanks to Allen, and mainly Phoque..

Perhaps it is this bug:

http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=45406

These happen because session module try’s to find serialize_handler before serializer module is loaded (and registered itself as valid serialize_handler)

It also mentions the fix was back ported to PHP 5.2.7. What version of PHP are you running?

Ha. there you go. :)

A little late alistair… :D

you have to work your typing skills :P

eh eh eh …

Then this should be mention on the next release, that symphony will require 5.2.7 or this option as posted above.. What you think?

Thanks…

As people might be alienated by the Server Requirements (5.2 is high enough) I think install.php could display an error if the above is not set and PHP version is lower than 5.2.7.

If everything is alright, it shouldn’t display anything.

Hi guys,

I'm getting the same behavior Somel described in comment #1 when trying to use Bluehost's shared SSL certificate:

"To use the shared SSL Certificate, update the hyperlinks that need to be secure to use the base URL of https://secure.bluehost.com/~yourunixusername."

So, instead of using http://mydomain.com/symphony, I'm using https://secure.bluehost.com/~myunixusername/symphony

The normal http login at http://mydomain.com/symphony works correctly.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Juan
