hey everyone, I was doing the basic hello world tutorial here http://getsymphony.com/learn/tutorials/view/say-hello-to-the-world/4/#pagehead

“Use the ?debug interface to check out the XML again (http://yoursite.com/?debug). The path to our entries looks something like this: /data/greetings/entry. Type that into the bar at the top of the debug interface (the one containing //*) and hit enter. Your entry elements should be highlighted (Figure 2). If they are, we’ve got the right XPath.”

I am not sure why, on the debug screen I do not have the option to type Xpaths.. Has anyone else experienced or knows why this is so?

I Have tried with firefox 3.5.7 and the newest safari as well, on a mac.

The XPath filtering was introduced in the Debug Devkit that comes with Symphony 2.0.7 (RC1). If you are using an earlier version of Symphony (you’re probably on 2.0.6) then you’ll have the earlier version of the Debug Devkit.

ah! thanks :) BTW, love love love love symphony.

That function is available in the latest version of Debug Devkit, which didn’t come bundled with Symphony versions earlier than 2.0.7. The tutorial was written under the impression that 2.0.7 stable was going to have been released already, but unfortunately it’s a bit behind schedule.

Yes, Nick beat me to it.
