I use input fields for all entry title. This is just fine until the user enters special characters like quotes or dashes: As it is not possible to connect a text formatter with an input field these characters will not be transformed into their typographically correct correspondents.

This problem results e. g. in entries using false quotes ("") in the title but correct ones in the text („“).

Does anybody know a solution for this problem? I think it is a quite common issue ...

Use my Text Box field, when you set its size to '1' it becomes a standard input box, with support for text formatters - try using it with the Typogrify formatter.
