Hi there,

I am wanting to build a site that has Front end user accounts where the user can choose their own homepage content. It's a site that has a variety of different blog categories and I want the user to be able to log in and have chosen which categories feeds are displayed.

Is anyone doing this in Symphony 2 and would they be kind enough to help me think through conceptually or provide examples of how to do it. I have built one site in Symphony now but have never thought through how to do this?

Really would appreciate this help

Kind regards AL

My first question is whether you create s2 users or a section for frontend users. I've never created frontend users using a section, but I imagine someone has and could inform you about pitfalls, useful extensions etc. In order to model things like content preferences, I'm betting you'll want to use a section (i.e. not use S2's internal user system). In that case, you could use one of the cookie or session extensions to ID the users, then just access their user entry and determine content that way.
