Did you install Symphony via Git as well? Are you in the Symphony installation’s root folder when you run that command?
I haven’t tried to install that extension but if I did I would move to the extensions folder in the Symphony installation and use this command:
git clone http://github.com/rowan-lewis/xmlimporter.git
and then add it to git.
Thank you wisolman, I was successfull with you advice!

Hello, in his tutorial Jonas Downey uses the revision control system GIT in order to install extensions like e.g. the “XML Importer”. I installed GIT on Windows XP and it works. However thy syntax that Downey uses, does not work. E.g. the command-line: git submodule add git://github.com/rowan-lewis/xmlimporter.git extensions/xmlimporter
produces the following error: Fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git
Unfortunally my knowledge about the Windows or Linux-Shell is limited. Perhaps someones could help with the problem above Thank you very much,
iago
