Has anybody an idea.

Searching the forum had no results.

Thx Thomas

I am currently facing the same problem.

According to some commentators setting the server safe_mode to off will solve the problem. However this isn’t possible in my case, since I’m on a shared host.

You can also try to create the folders manually.

Are these foldes only manifest and inside logs?

/manifest should contain three folders: cache, logs and tmp. It is also where your config.php will be created, where your database settings (etc) are stored.

manifest/, manifest/logs/, manifest/cache/ and manifest/tmp/

Thx, Is there any further step to become the installation ready for the Administrator?

Hi Guys,

there’s allqways the same error.

i tried now to mkdir the three dir’s manual, but when i trie to run the installer again, there’s the same error.

within between, i’ve done the git way, but the same error’s ocure.

Any Idea?

I suppose you did check the ownership of the root folder? On my site it needs to be www-data.

Thx, that worked for me!

Is this an apache issue, or what the hell was going on there.

At least all permissions where set to 777 but nothing worked until i chown to the apache user.

If anybody knows the reason?

Thx wisolman :-)

I think if apache did not have read access to /manifest (meaning any of manifest’s parent directories) then even though manifest was 777, apache would not be able to write to it.

It is a nuisance for me that Symphony sets “group” to www-data as well as “owner.” Symphony allows you to specify your desired permission settings. It would be convenient if it allowed the specification of a desired group. Then with permissions 775 both you and Symphony would have access — provided that you are a member of the specified group.

Perhaps there is a slick workaround out there?

That’s no Symphony specialty. It has to do with the PHP user on the server, so it’s a matter of server configuration/installation.
