I was wondering if it is possible to have a block that uses multipul data sources? basicaly what i want to do is have all my blog post.. twitter posts... ect. queryed in one list by creation date. Then in the template each data type would have a slightly different look and feel

Yes it is possible. You attach all the datasources to your page and then your xsl:apply-templates selects all of the nodes in question using the pipe "|" operator I believe... See this thread
