Anyone experienced with ‘porting’ WP extensions over to symphone? I feel a social integrator such as buddypress would be a welcome extension for us.

What do you mean by extension? I guess to me buddypress in Symphony would just be an ensemble with some extra functionality like the Members Extension.

doesn’t it hook into facebook, twitter,… api’s?

Hmmmm, I’ve only installed it once and messed around with it a little, so it may have a few fancy features like that, but its mostly a social network comprised of:

  1. User Profiles
  2. Blogs
  3. Groups
  4. Forums
  5. Activity Streams of those things

All of those things technically could be accomplished with Symphony and some extensions, though it would be quite the undertaking and would definitely require the Members Extension.
