Adding an upload folder?

Simply use an FTP client. Create the directory, then set its permissions to 777. Then you can choose this destination for file upload fields.

Is it possible to create a specific folder in the Workspace folder that I can use for uploads? Right now there doesn't appear to be one in my default installation, which I find rather confusing.
How do I add one?
