- Does the folder
/symphony/
exist? - Does this folder have a
.htacces
inside? - Do you have
mod_rewrite
enable in you apache installation?
Yes, there is a /symphony/ folder, but the is no folders /publish/ or /articles/ inside.
Yes, there is a .htaccess file.
I think so.
Question 1 and 3 are connected:
publish
and articles
are virtual folders that are redirected to the correct system files using Apache's mod_rewrite. So you should check question 3 again.
Are you able to access pages on the frontend, e. g. the archive or any article other than the one shown on the frontpage?
Another way to determine if it;'s an .htaccess problem — can you view this URL?
/symphony/index.php?page=publish/articles
When you try to view /symphony/publish/articles/
the .htaccess rule is actually rewriting this URL onto the index.php as above. If the index.php method works, then it is the .htaccess rules not being applied on your server.

After installation, it prompts me to log in. After doing so, it takes me to a directory that does not exist; /symphony/publish/articles/.
When I back up to the home page, it shows that I am logged on, but when I click "Admin" it takes me back to /symphony/publish/articles/.
Is there some files missing from the symphony folder? What am I doing wrong here?
