Why there is no "Select current user by default" option (in Author field) anymore in 2.3?

I need to display author's posts with his name and job title. This is what i'm planning to do:

1- Authors will be created in the Symphony Backend. 2- I'll need an Authors section with an Author field and input field for job title. 3- The posts section will contain an Author field and other post's content fields. 4- DS will chain from Post entry to the Author entry.

Besides the Author field will have to be manually filled, this doesn't seem to be the best approach. Does anyone have a better solution for that?

I didn't know this was the case. Can you log it on the issue tracker?

I can populate the field with js from Symphony.Context.get('user').id and use the Author Roles Extension to hide the field.
