OK, So I am new to Symphony, and so far, it seems uber flexible, easy to use, and even easier to customize. BUT

I have a problem. An engineering firm in Belarus built our web service using Symphony, and I am trying to move it to our new web host.

With a CMS like Wordpress its something I am familiar with, and the move for that was easy, but not the Symphony move. There is no DB to move, as the only connection is through an API that is written in the site code, but I just don't know where to do the install and how to set it up so it works as it did before.

:( Suggestions?

Hi Tony. You should find the migration as easy as moving a WP site. You need to:

  1. Copy the files
  2. Copy the database
  3. Update the database connection details in /manifest/config.php
  4. You may need to update permissions on the /workspace/ directory and its contents to make them writable by Symphony. Likewise on /manifest/cache/.
  5. Its probably also worth deleting the contents of the cache folder.

That should get you up and running.

New to Symphony? Welcome. If you put in a little effort in the first few weeks, you will never look back to the likes of Wordpress.
