What is the best way to grab the total number of entries for each section? I'm dealing with sections with hundreds to up to tens of thousands of entries, so creating a datasource for its pagination hangs terribly.

The way you do is like a DS with only System Pagination field and one result?

Of course! I'm an idiot, I was telling it not to limit the number of entries instead. (I should probably stop trying to think after being up for more than a day.)
