Data source filtering using + (plus, and) not working

I also have the same problem as described in this thread except that I used {$param1} + {$param2}
instead of fixed names like Cool + Hot
.
I found no solutions and my guess was that the DS "+" operator is broken. Hopefully someone comes up with something.
Definitely the same problem, except I don't get DB errors, just no result. Opened an issue: https://github.com/symphonycms/symphony-2/issues/1715

This problem has multiple levels

. Doing a basic filter on a select box field forCool + Hot
gives no results, when entries do exist.Cool+Hot
(encoded into?param=Cool%2BHot
, Symphony produces the paramCool Hot
. I have to use?param[]=Cool¶m[]=Hot
and use an event to hack it into a paramCool+Hot
