Introduction

Here it is, folks. The obligatory “Hello World” tutorial. In it, you’ll be introduced to the most fundamental Symphony workflow: modeling data and channeling it to your front end. That’s it. No bells and whistles. Four simple steps. Just enough to whet your appetite. A follow-up tutorial will pick up where this one leaves off, demonstrating a few more advanced techniques.

This tutorial assumes you’ve already got a clean install of Symphony up and running. If you haven’t, go ahead and install it now (don’t include the default workspace).

Now log in to the admin interface. You there? Ok let’s go…

Server Requirements

  • PHP 5.3-5.6 or 7.0-7.3
  • PHP's LibXML module, with the XSLT extension enabled (--with-xsl)
  • MySQL 5.5 or above
  • An Apache or Litespeed webserver
  • Apache's mod_rewrite module or equivalent
