Closed#107: Various issues with registration process

Following the various complains from the registration process, here are some suggestions:

  • use consistent language. We use a variety including “Sign in”, “Login” (which should be “Log in”), “Join them”, “Register” and “Create Account”
  • the registration CTA incorrectly reads “Submit Changes”
  • suggest adding Register and Log In items to header (sym-registration-1.png)
  • when clicking a login link, give the “username” field focus in the footer
  • when not logged-in, the “Please check out the forum guidelines before posting.” text at the top of the forum could read “Please [create an account] or [log in] to contribute”
  • the “Login to Comment” text at the bottom of a forum thread could read “[Create an account] or [log in] to comment”

And lastly, confirmation emails do not always arrive. Could be down to a lack of SPF record, reverse DNS, or something else.

Thanks, Nick. Will get on this ASAP.

Fixes committed. Will roll out with the next website update.

Think I’ve gotten all of these, Nick. Can you confirm?
