Unfortunately this problem existed in the old site as well. I think it was to do with migration from the very very old Vanilla Forum based site, which didn’t use proper UTF-8 unicode DB encoding. Those having problems will need to update their member details via the edit profile page.
This issue is closed.
Characters from extended character sets (UTF-8) have been messed up during import.
You’ll find a lot of strange characters looking at the German members. (Hey, Germans like their ö and ä and ü and ß!)
