After entering my info, I get:

Install Symphony Version 2.3.1 Installation Failure

An error occurred during installation. View the log for more details

"log" is linked to a file that doesn't even exist. I changed the root of my site, install, symphony, and workspace to 777, per the instructions:

"Use your FTP client to temporarily set permissions on the root directory (the one you just installed to) and the symphony/ directory to 777 (read, write, and execute for all). Then set permissions on the workspace/ directory to 777 and tell your client to apply the changes recursively (to all subfolders). NOTE: We'll undo this step and tighten up permissions after installing."

What does your webserver’s log say?

Surprisingly nothing. Not a peep in the Apache or PHP logs. I'm going to try a clean install of 2.3.2 and see what that says.

On a related note, are the installation instructions at http://getsymphony.com/learn/tutorials/view/install-symphony/ still valid? They're almost four years old.
