I’ve sunk a few days into trying to figure this out this simple thing with no avail.. so it’s time to ask the pro’s.

I want to use basic HTML when writing article content.

What I typed in:

<h2>Family ties</h2>
<div class="endpost">
<p class="intro"><span class="drop">W</span>hile

What I get out:

<p>&lt;</p>
<p>div class=”endpost”&gt;</p>
<p class="intro"><span class="drop">W</span>hile

I think the solution has something to do with changing a line in the get-article.xsl Utility.

<xsl:copy-of select="body/*[1]"/>

I found Allen’s article on Manipulating HTML in XML which I think might be a step in the right direction, then again, I have no idea.

It also seems that somehow the Markdown to HTML type extensions might be of help, but again, not sure.

So… can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

What I do is install the Markdown and SmartyPants Text Formatter extension.

http://github.com/pointybeard/markdown/tree/master

I tried that before, but ran into a bit of a snag.

I downloaded it, moved the downloaded folder to my extensions folder, load System > Extensions, and the page renders blank.

If i delete the folder, the Extensions page loads again.

Okay.. so this plugin looks to be part of the default Extensions that come w/ the standard Symphony 2 install, right?

It should be, yes

NickToye – Can you provide more detail how you use / implement this plugin to fix this kind of issue?

Well it’s not really a fix, it’s just a way of using a formatter to display html.

You need to install the extension.

Then you need to make sure the textarea field in the section has the right formatter attached to it.

Then that should really be all you need to do.

Oh.. duh! It’s right there Blueprints > Sections > Articles. Thanks all.
