A new extension, Advanced Input FieldOutput Field” is now available for download. Comments and feedback can be left here but if you discover any issues, please post it on the issue tracker.

This extension extends Symphony’s standard input field and offers a different data source output for mail addresses and URIs.

Mail address

<mailaddress alias="sam.symphonian" domain="getsymphony.com" hash="9a6ea6ecaa6ce46c0dcfb8415993e638">
    sam.symphonian@getsymphony.com
</mailaddress>
  • alias
  • domain
  • hash, useful for Gravatar integration

URI (see PHP documentation)

<website scheme="http" host="getsymphony.com">http://getsymphony.com</website>
  • scheme, e.g. http
  • host
  • port
  • user
  • pass
  • path
  • query, after the question mark ?
  • fragment, after the hashmark #

I wouldn’t really name it “Advanced Input Field” as it is too generic and non-discriptive. :-)

phoque, please throw in a better name - creativity is welcome :)

Hm. Both emails and URIs are types of addresses, but “Address Field” seems misleading…

The problem is, that is working as a normal input field as long as you don’t validate it as mail or URI. So it is a standard input field with advanced output for links/addresses.
