Somehow my events are not working anymore just now, where they did so last time I checked. I have been setting up some custom events today, but I doubt that could be the cause?

The system log says this:

2010/08/26 18:16:31 > WARNING: 2 - curlsetopt(): CURLOPTFOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when in safemode or an openbasedir is set in file /srv/www/vhosts/esthex.com/httpdocs/symphony/lib/toolkit/class.gateway.php on line 167

2010/08/26 18:16:31 > WARNING: 2 - curl_setopt(): Unable to access /srv/www/vhosts/esthex.com/httpdocs/manifest/tmp/cookie.txt in file /srv/www/vhosts/esthex.com/httpdocs/symphony/lib/toolkit/class.gateway.php on line 169

Strange thing is that this is also mentioned a couple of days ago, but the events worked then. Could this be the problem?

Did you change anything in your server setup?

No nothing at all, for this website I don’t even have access to that.

I will run some tests tommorow to see if the most basic event does work, very strange.

My first guess is: Your host changed/updated your environment. This often happened to me, leaving me perplexed. (Indeed many times my own code was inadequate, i.e. it didn’t work with the next version of PHP or s.th. like that…)

CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when in safemode or an openbasedir is set in file

That error is pretty telling. Have your host turned on safemode or disabled curl?

I recreated the section and event and now it seems to be working again. Perhaps the same issue like mentioned here

Event emailing is not working however, so that might be due to the safemode..

safemode and openbasedir will mess loads up, it’s my biggest bugbear with shared hosts, it’s even been deprecated in PHP, yet it’s still in use because of genuine security worries for some hosts…
