Select Box showing in XML output when nothing is selected (bug?)

Shouldn’t this be or just show nothing at all?
Should be nothing at all. Best raise as a bug.

Is this a bug?
I have a Select Box with ‘Allow selection of multiple options’ checked. When I don’t select anything, it shows as following in my XML:
<field> <item handle="" /> </field>Shouldn’t this be
<field />or just show nothing at all?I’m using Symphony 2.1.1
