A new extension, "Frontend Localisation" is now available for download. Comments and feedback can be left here but if you discover any issues, please post it on the issue tracker.

This stuff is tested more or less. Don't really use it in production, yet.

Feedback & issues are greatly appreciated.

Grab it from Github.

Interesting! How does this differ conceptually and practically from the gettext extension?

1_ For PHP devs, it provides a unique access point for Frontend Language management. One can install different language drivers like : Language Redirect, Language Parameters and whatever is out there. Until Symphony provides this mechanism, I intend to use it for Page LHandles as well.

2_ Translations are kept in separate files, in different folders:

translations/ro
translations/en
translations/de
...

Each folder has the same structure (files).

3_ Translations and pages = relation many to many. One adds a translation to a Page in Page editor. All translations are available in XML for current-page, if supplied DS is attached to it.

Frontend Localisation updated to version 0.3beta on 4th of November 2011.

  • added a Translation interface in Admin. See Translations nav menu.
  • various bugs fixed.

If you notice any bugs, please post on the issue tracker.

Hello, Admins.

Could you please delete this extension? There was some trouble with my account and currently I can't edit this extension details or even my own comments.

I will release it again after this one has been deleted.

Thank you.

The new version of Frontend Localisation is here.

The version in this thread is DEPRECATED.

This thread should be closed and the corresponding extension version should be deleted ...

Thanks @admin.
