OK, first post.

Decided to try and evaluate Symphony for my needs, as I have no history decided to start out with V2. I have installed v1.7 OK. I then wiped that install and did a fresh install of v2 and am getting a 404 on /~ed/sym/symphony/publish/articles/ (this in on MacOS).

Do I need to install v1.7 and upgrade it to v2 (if so, how?) or have I got another problem?

No, as Symphony 2 is not backwards-compatible. Sounds like another problem.

maybe check to see that mod_rewrite is enabled, and that you're allowing overrides in that directory.

so to upgrade from v1.7 to v2.0, i'd have to manually enter in information from 1.7 to 2 in the admin?

Currently, yes. There was lots of talk about a universal importer via XML earlier back.
