What's the best way to access system date and author on section entrys?

What are you trying to achieve? In what context do you need to access these values? Are you creating or editing section entries on the front of the site?

No won't be creating or editing section entries in my sites front end. I need to implement pages that list (read only) entries created (on back-end) by specific authors. I dont see a way to include system-author element to my datasource. Or a way to get the authors name from its handle/id.

There is an author field that can be outputed to your Datasource xml via the section editor no?
