New#2: Symphony back end is almost as complicated for clients as Silex WYSIWYG editor

Symphony back end is almost as complicated for clients as Silex WYSIWYG editor. So we would need to make a back office with Symphony made for clients. We have no one able to do this, but our UI designer have specified an ideal back office, with simple functionnalities and cool design.

The pictures of our "ideal back office" are attached to this issue

Back end specifications

Very easy for the end user, clean and quick

Help sections everywhere?

A design close to the design of Silex manager or the one of symphony

if the user is super admin, he should be able to manage the available layer types. Otherwise he can only edit the structure and the content.

Content edition

The structure of the site is a tree of pages.

Each page has these properties

  • id
  • name

Layer types edition

The "layer types editor" is used to manage layer types associated with a Silex template. A layer type is made of a group of accessors (title, text, imageUrl...) and possibly children layer types. And also a name and a description in order to recognize it in the back end, possibly an image for preview.

Notes:

  • The root layer is always of the type "main menu"
  • The editor should make it easy to manage layer types, add accessors, change the children layer types...

Example of layer types:

  • layer type "main menu"

accessors = title (text), description (text for seo) children layer types: menu item, ...

  • layer type "menu item"

accessors = title (text), deep link (text) ... children layer types: gallery, text with 2 sections, home page...

  • layer type "gallery"

accessors = title (text), description (rich text) children layer types: image, video, sound, image with caption, ... whatever layer types are needed in the template

  • layer type "text with 2 sections"

accessors = description (text for seo), title1 (text), text1 (rich text), title2 (text), text2 (rich text) children layer types: none

  • layer type "image with caption"

accessors = URL, thumb URL, title, caption children layer types: none
