I followed this up on jQuery when I originally thought this was a jQuery bug. Looks like the 1.3.2 behaviour was considered a ‘bug’ and has been ‘fixed’ in 1.4+. Read More
So you’ll have to think of another way to do what your trying to do.

Argh. I’ll see if I can fix this before the release of Symphony 2.0.7 (I’m not sure about this schedule though).
This issue is closed.
Mediathek doesn’t work with jQuery 1.4.
In particular, the .live() events on the list items don’t work because jQuery now returns an empty set, instead of the document.
I’ve spent some time this afternoon trying to figure out a workaround, but it wasn’t very pretty.
